NIna terminology

Let me first say that this picture has nothing to do with the story - I just like it! :)

The doctor (she is fine) had given Nina some stickers this morning so on the way to daycare she arranged them on her leg and then said, "Look, mommy, I have a tacktoo!"

Being the type of mom I am I corrected her and said, "It is TATtoo, honey." She said, "No, mom. Tack means to stick and these are stickers so it is a TACKtoo."

Silly me!!!

Webster would be proud

The other day Nina came in and started talking to me. Dan interrupted with a question and Nina promptly chided him with "Daddy, don't interrupt! That is rude! Mommy and me are trying to have a confiscation!"

I asked, "A what?" She said, "Umm...a confishashun."

I said, "I am sorry I don't understand what you are trying to say." She says, "You know. It's when people talk to each others."

Oh! A conversation!!! Knowing and using the big word correctly is cool - but more impressive to me is that she knows and can correctly give the definition!

Emelda wannabe

So the other day we were watching Blue's Clues and the show was about collections and things people collect. Near the end of the show I turned to Nina and asked, "Nina, what do you collect?"
She immediately answered, "Shoes!!"

Lol...sadly, this is true. My little Emelda Marcos!!!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Thankfully it is sunny out today - still cold but sunny - one of the things I miss most about living in TX is the sun. I like rain and thunderstorms a lot but sun is good for the soul.

Anyway - Nina has been very excited for Easter. Apparently since I rarely let her have candy she was super excited to get candy from the Easter Bunny! Last night while I was rocking her (we rock for one song each night and then she has to go to bed and listen to the rest on her own) she started talking about the Easter Bunny coming and we talked about where he might hide her basket. After much discussion she decided the best place to keep it safe from the dog would be her room. Then she said, "Mommy, when it is wake up time then Daddy has to wake up - you can't stop me!" Apparently she didn't want to have to wait for her father to wake up on his own to find her basket! ;)

This morning she looked all over and finally found her basket behind the rocking chair in her room. She was thrilled. As we started looking through it she came across something she didn't recognize and asked what it was. I told her it was "Robin's Eggs". She became very concerned and said, "Oh Mommy, we need to give these back to the poor robin!" LOL Now she understands they are candy.

About an hour later she said, "Hey Mommy, maybe the Easter Bunny camed again!"

Leading up to today we have been talking about why the Easter Bunny comes - because Jesus came back to life. We have looked at pictures of Jesus (thanks Mom!) to make it more real to her. She has been asking for stories about Him and has decided He is a pretty cool guy. She has decided she wants to go live with Him - "but not God, just Jesus." Guess I need to start telling some stories about all the nice things God has done too. :)

Today is one of those days that makes me feel grateful and makes me overly emotional. I am very grateful for our Savior and all that He did for us. I hope you all have a wonderful and uplifting day today!

Not sure what it does but here you go!

Nina has been having trouble with nosebleeds so Monday on the way home from work/daycare I stopped and picked up a humidifier. Nina was very confused by the name. "A mamidifier?" We worked on how to say the word a bit. Then she narrowed my focus a bit. "Fire Mommy? For me? Will it hurt?"

I tried all the way home and several other times throughout the evening to explain how it works and that it would not hurt or even get hot. I tried to explain that it is a different kind of "fire". She was still perplexed. So after her bath I had her help me get it ready and she watced the tank fill up with water in the tub. She then had to use the restroom so I took the bottom into her room to plug it in while she was busy in the bathroom.

From the her bedroom I hear the following (when I got back I found her talking into the toilet paper holder for your mental picture):

"Ladies and gentlemen! Here we have a midifier. I am not sure what that is and I don't know what it does but here you go!"

Fundraising 101

Sorry for two posts in one day. Since I kind of use this as a journal for Nina I want to make sure to get this in while I remember it.

Ok so the first thing you have to do when you want to raise money is ask, right? Well I guess Nina has this down. A few weeks ago Lisa (daycare owner) told me that while Nina's group was at the park someone found some change on the ground. Nina right away asked if she could have it for her college fund. :) They got a big kick out of that one!

Easter Egg Hunt

Andy, Kolby (6), Connor (4), and Kaiden (17 mos) went with Nina and I to an Easter brunch and egg hunt today. Side note for those who don't remember, Andy is Nina's oldest sister and the boys following her name are her kids, my grandkids, Nina's nephews.

It was at the American Legion in Arkport and was free. I found out about it through Nina's daycare, which is also in Arkport. They had the Easter Bunny come and visit with the children and lead the younger group to the hunt, wich was in the nearby baseball field. The kids all had a great time. Nina saw many kids from her preschool and was very excited to see them and they her. I was told that Nina is the "life of the party." That kind of makes me laugh because I am just the opposite - most times I can sneak in and out and not really be noticed - which is the way I like it!

Nina found about 8 eggs and decided she had enough and would leave some for others to find. (I am smiling proudly at that - she is so thoughtful!) Kolby was in the older age group and when we went to go find him he had found many! Connor found just over a dozen and by the time Kaiden got to the field there weren't any left but someone kindly gave him 4 or 5. All were happy until Connor opened one of his eggs to find it empty!! I told him that was because it had Easter magic in it and he thought that was great. Then Nina and Kolby frantically searched their eggs, actually wanting an empty one so they could have magic too!

After we got in the car I discovered all of Nina's except one had quarters in them. LOL, I said the Easter Bunny must really want you to go to college!! She agreed. We did, however, stop at the store on the way home and picked up some jelly beans because as good as she was about it she was still disappointed she didn't have more candy and I could not let her college fund end up being something that was a bum deal! Nina proclaimed on the way to the store, "That was the best Easter egg hunt I have ever been to!" I did not remind her it was the only one she has ever been to. ;)

Unfortunately I could not find my camera this morning. I searched and searched and was especially frustrated because I had just used it yesterday morning to snap some picutres of Nina with the boys (they had spent the night Friday night). When we got home I looked again and finally I send Dan a text message asking if he had seen it somewhere. Not five minutes later he walks through the door with it!!! He had taken it to fix Nina's. UGH! I wish I had not been so stubborn and had asked him earlier! Andy did have her camera and will be supplying me with the pictures from her camera which I will add to this post when I get them so stay tuned!
